Pandav Caves

Places to Visit in Pachmarhi

One of Pachmarhi’s unique offering is its religious mountain caves. Religiously important as they are, they are equally beautiful too. One such important cave happens to be Pandava caves. Caves where Pandava brothers believed to have stayed for few months during their 14 years of exile. But beyond its mythological importance lies another very important fact. This fact being that Pachmarhi gets its name from this very cave itself. In word ‘Pachmarhi’ ‘pach’ stands paanch (referring to five pandav brothers) and ‘marhi’ stands for caves.

Dhupgarh

Pachmarhi is not known as ‘Queen of Satpura’ for nothing. As Satpura is its home but more importantly because Pachmarhi has many spots from where you get stunning views of Satpura ranges. One such spot happens to be Dhupgarh or Dhupgarh point. From here you get stunning view of sun rise and sun set. If you ever wish to see sun rise and sun set in all its glory and beauty, then Dhupgarh is that place where your wish will be fulfilled.

B-Falls Waterfalls and Other Waterfalls

Jatashankar and Mahadeo Caves

The other two important mountain caves are Jatashankar and Mahadeo caves – both located on a hill top. Both these caves are dedicated to Lord Shiva and both are beautiful indeed. In fact they are even more beautiful and mesmerizing than historically important Pandav caves. The nearest station to Pachmarhi is Pipariya station located in Pipariya town. Pipariya station is one of the foremost stations on Mumbai – Howrah train route and therefore many passenger and long distance halt here. Pachmarhi is located some 47 kms away from Pipariya station.
